A Legendary Welcome: Celebrating 60 Years of Robin Hood Inn & Suites

Since the vibrant '60s, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada's jewel of a city, has been enriched by a family's dedication to hospitality. At its heart is the Ullrich family and their devoted Robin Hood hospitality team. What sets the Robin Hood apart is that it's one of the rare establishments still managed by its founding family. The journey began in 1962 when Mr. Rolf Ullrich laid the foundation at 136 Gorge Road East. The doors officially opened to guests in June 1963.

2023 marks twin celebrations: Rolf Ullrich's 95th birthday and the hotel’s 60th anniversary. A testament to the family's belief that lasting relationships are built on trust, the Robin Hood family remains unwavering in its commitment to creating cherished memories.

To commemorate this legacy, we've rolled out a five-part video series: It's the People, It’s the Extras, It’s the Recreation, It’s the Sleep, and It’s the Pride. The series showcases Rolf Ullrich, son Karl, and daughter Stefanie delving into the motel’s evolution into today's Robin Hood Inn & Suites. It’s a heartwarming peek into their journey and their enduring promise of providing guests a splendid stay.

Community is at the heart of the Ullrich legacy. Recently, they initiated a video project celebrating the rich cultures of Victoria, underscoring its reputation as one of the world’s most welcoming cities.

Building on this rich history, every Robin Hood team member, then and now, has contributed to the hotel's transformation. Their collective efforts have shaped the Robin Hood Inn & Suites into a paradigm of hospitality excellence, blending traditional warmth with innovative engagement.

Today, it stands as a tribute to the 1960’s roadside inn, seamlessly marrying vintage charm with modern innovation. Guest rooms are adorned with the finest amenities, from luxurious mattresses and linens, featuring a pillow menu, to high-speed Wi-Fi and Chromecast, all designed to exceed expectations.

The Ullrichs don’t just accommodate; to many visitors to Victoria, they are recognized as unofficial Ambassadors of the vibrant Victoria community. They embrace the city's multicultural tapestry, creating videos that celebrated the myriad of cultures which make Victoria one of the most welcoming and friendliest cities to the world.

Rooted in tradition yet constantly evolving, every team member has sculpted The Robin Hood's

narrative. Their collective endeavour has reimagined the classic 1960’s roadside inn, marrying nostalgia with avant-garde innovations. Step into any guest room and you're greeted by luxuries often reserved for five-star suites: plush beds, fine linens, state-of-the-art amenities, and exclusive perks that add that special touch to your stay.

A standout feature are the bathrooms. Vancouver Island's ethereal beauty is immortalized by renowned photographer, Mr. John Westergaard. Printed onto tempered glass, these picturesque landscapes transform every shower into a serene escape — a North American first.

The hospitality is not merely in the ambiance but ingrained in the very ethos of the staff. Every detail, from the warm reception to the meticulous housekeeping services, is executed with passion and precision. The Great Room offers a continental breakfast of freshly bake croissants, Danish, and muffins, a variety of barista coffees, yogurt, fresh fruit and fruit juice, and cereals. The breakfast is also offered as a room service option.

Beyond the Inn's walls, Victoria beckons. Explore the city on e-bikes, kayaks, or SUPs and paddle through the serene Gorge Waterway. Avail the complimentary shuttle, whether you're jetting in from Victoria International Airport or docking at BC Ferries Swartz Bay. For our neighbours from the USA, the Blackball and Clipper ferries are also catered to. And there's more — from EV charging stations to a vibrant Great Room replete with modern amenities and old-world charm. Long-term guests also enjoy bespoke services, ensuring every need is met.

Dubbed "The Gateway to the Victoria Resort Experience", the Inn boasts of over 15 experiential

partnerships. Be it culinary experiences, scenic tours, or nature retreats, every moment promises to be an adventure.

Capping off the accolades, in 2023, the Robin Hood Inn & Suites was proud to be nominated as one of British Columbia Hotel Association’s finest hotels.

So, wanderlust souls, history buffs, and everyone in between — a timeless escapade awaits at the Robin Hood Inn & Suites. Come, be a chapter in our story.
